We are concluding our first semester of 3rd grade! Great job 3rd graders. Your child's report card will be sent home with them on December 18th. Also on this day our class is having a pajama and movie day (students may come dressed to school in their pajamas). This month's Thematic Unit is Technology. I have arranged for the Fractal Foundation to come and present on how technology is used with Fractals. Our 3rd grade class will be hosting this on December 13th and we have invited the other 3rd grade classes to join. For more information on fractals visit http://fractalfoundation.org/. Check out the new video on this website in the homework section on DIVISION!

I hope you enjoyed your Thanksgiving Break. Just before the break our class hosted a Turkey Olympics, we competed against the other 3rd grade classes in energetic and athletic activities and we had fun! Be on the look out for pictures of this event. I am asking students to bring 1 pair of computer headphones (with cushions) to use for the computer lab and they will be stored in the classroom.

We will be discussing HIV/AIDS (age appropriate) with our students today for Health Day if you would like to see the power point of the presentation please email me. We are excited to have Ana Sofia's mom Claudia come in on Friday while we study Dia de los Muertos. We will be having a Halloween party after the 1:30 parade, students may bring in goodies for the class if they would like but it's not mandatory. We had a blast at Harvest fest with our Eyeball obstacle course. Thank you to everyone for coming and a special thank you to Damian's family for helping with our booth!

There is still time to sign up for conferences for October. Stop by my classroom to sign up. As a reminder: Students are responsible for receiving homework packets on Monday but I try to support students by supplying it online as well. We will be visiting the computer lab for the first time this week to complete Discovery Education Assessments. We are excited! Jog a Thon is October 4th (next Friday). We are in the transition to finding out how to scan the weekly homework and word sorts using our new computer system. For now you can visit the homework section of the website for the spelling list and math pages.

After our first break in the school year I hope everyone is ready to get back to the classroom! In the homework section of the webpage you will find an updated spelling list and math homework (w/ answer key). Last month we beautified our campus by pulling weeds and picking up trash we filled more than 8 trash bags full. Mrs. Weil's and Ms. Sanchez' 3rd graders came out to help with our mission too. Below is a picture of all of us after we pulled weeds. Excellent job 3rd graders.
